The institute has its own building and well equipped class rooms and state of art laboratories, which were duly appreciated by the State Govt. and the Peer Team of NAAC. Institute has 46 class rooms, of which 14 are fixed with over head LCD projectors. We have a total of 29 labs, each of which can conveniently accommodate 30-40 students at a time. The Institute has separate boys & girls hostels with each room having attached washroom; dining hall, game facilities and Wi-Fi campus.
In accordance with NAAC guidelines institute has Central and Departmental Libraries, Computers, Wi-Fi campus, Internet café, Sports facility, welfare schemes, Grievance Redressal Cell, IQAC, Dolphin Student Welfare Committee (DSWC), auditorium, NSS, Bank ATM and Xerox facility, etc to name a few.
The institute and the hostels are well connected by metallic road with the city via Prem Nagar. Plenty of private local buses and pickup vans are available for easy approach to the Institute and the hostels. The Institute also provides its own bus service for the students and the faculty.
Well Stocked Computerized Library
The central library of the institute has 20,271 accessioned books which are managed by Digitised Library Information system. In addition there are 14 departmental libraries to facilitate quick access to frequently referred books by students. Institute’s library spreads across six thousand square feet area and stocks ample number of books to cater to all levels of UG & PG courses requirements. The reading room with the sitting capacity of more than 250 students is well lighted and peaceful. The library also subscribes to reputed professional research journals and general knowledge periodicals. It gives added advantage to students to be aware of latest international developments in their respective fields. Library is well staffed and is headed by an experienced chief librarian.
The N-LIST programme subscribes to Web of Science for universities, Annual Reviews (33 journal titles), JSTOR (2500 titles), Nature (27 journal titles), Project Muse (400+ journal titles) and Taylor and Francis (1079 titles) for 35 technical institutions including IITs, IISc, IISERs and selected NITs. Besides, more than 5,000 e-journals and 95,000 e-books are subscribed for colleges.
Global Standard Labs and Class Rooms
The Institute has the objective of grooming the students to be competent professionals, the need of the hour. To complement the foundation laid in the lecture theaters, the Institute boasts of state of the art laboratories. The large, spacious, well-lit and ventilated laboratories have been carefully designed keeping in mind the individual requirements of the students. Besides ICT enabled class rooms with OHP, overhead and portable LCD facilities have been provided in a number of class rooms and labs, besides the seminar hall. Based on the infrastructure in the institute the NAAC Peer team commented ‘Best Practices in the development of Infrastructure and Learning Resources: Good infrastructure for teaching and learning’.
Recently the institute has been recognized for pursuing Ph.D. In the offing are laboratories for animal tissue culture that will be an asset for budding biotechnology professionals and researchers.
Each department has been provided with individual departmental library as per norms laid down by NAAC.
Hightech Computer Lab
Information tech-nology acts as foundation for better access to information in society. It is a term popularly used to refer to the availability and use of advanced information services by means of a variety of high capacity data transport facilities, especially the computers and computer networks.
An updated ultra modern hightech Computer Lab having more than 100 computers was recently inaugurated by the Chairman Shri Arvind Gupta.
The institute canteen offers tea, coffee, cold drink, lunch and delicious snacks at very reasonable rates on all working days.
Cyber Café, Photostat Shop, ATM & PCO
A cyber café, a stationary shop, ATM and a general store are available within the campus for the convenience of students and the staff. The STD/ PCO & photostat facility is functional during college hours on all working days.
Our concern for students is not only limited to academics alone. Separate hostels for girls and boys, managed on no profit-no loss basis are also provided to ensure proper, hygienic and comfortable stay.
The girls’ hostel provides accommodation on twin sharing arrangement with attached bath cum toilets having 24 hours water supply. It has hygienic dining facilities. The girls’ hostel is fully Wi-Fi, providing easy internet access to the resident students within the confines of their rooms. There is a proper security set up with round the clock guards besides lady wardens.
To and fro Institute bus facility is available from all the hostels on all working days. Bus facility is also provided for outings on holidays. Students are expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the hostel. Facilities like comfortable rooms, excellently managed mess with common dining hall, internet, indoor and outdoor games make their stay a pleasant experience. The students also take part in different festival and cultural activities within the hostel.
To ensure that the students can attend classes regularly and punctually, the Institute has its own fleet of buses and transport facilities. The bus routes have been planned in such a way so as to cover major points in Dehra Dun city and surroundings.
Sports activities play a crucial role in overall personality development of the students. Sports benefit physical and mental health of the students and inculcate leadership qualities, comradeship, endurance and perseverance in the students.
Therefore, in spite of very busy academic schedule, Institute tries to maintain a balance by encouraging students to participate in both indoor and outdoor games. The Institute has vast playing fields and indoor game facilities. These provide opportunities to the students to participate in the whole range of games like cricket, football, basketball, volley ball, etc. under the guidance of experienced physical education instructors. Indoor game facilities include chess, table tennis, carom and gymnasium. Students can also opt for coaching in skating, tennis and yoga.
Sport events are organized regularly, besides the annual sports week. Institute has a regular games coach and coaching is provided to students for these events. The best player and the House declared champion are awarded in annual function of the Institute. This reflects our tenet of a “Healthy Mind in Healthy Body”.
