Brief Summary about Academy of Plant Sciences India
Your academy APSI was established in 1988 by the efforts of few prominent Scientists, under the leadership of Dr. S.K. Gupta, which now has completed thirty years as an effective forum of Plant Scientist and at present have a prominent place at national level.
It is all due to your kind co-operation and good wishes. We are very grateful to you for this tremendous achievement and hope in future we will receive more affection from you which will lead us on the path of more success.
Academy is autonomous Non Government Organization, open to everyone who has a scientific interest and inclination in the field of Plant Sciences, Agriculture, Forestry, Environment, Environmental Pollution. The uninterrupted activities of the Academy for the last three decades in organizing related seminars and promotion of scientific temper among researches of various discipline of plant science have given the Academy a prominent place at National Level Publication of its Journal “Advances in Plant Sciences” (UGC approved Journal with impact factor 2.9 by NAAS) is up-to-date and every year our honourable members are receiving it in the month of June and December. In this short span APSI has also published 5 Monographs and 8 Proceeding of seminars and every year gives awards and prizes to the scientists and researchers concerned in the plant sciences.
Besides organizing the seminar at APSI Head Quarter, Muzaffarnagar in 1988, 1992, 1995, 1998 and 2001 we have also organized seminar at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) in 1993, in 1996 at Brahm Varchas Research Institute Shantikunj, Hardwar in collaboration with Gurukul Kangri University, in 1997 at Government P.G. College Rishikesh, in 1999 Bose institute Kolkata, in 2002 at Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar Gujrat, in 2003 at Gurukul Kangri University, Hardwar, in 2004 at St. Johns College, Agra, in 2005 at PSGR College Coimbatore, in 2006 at Kanya Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, Hardwar, in 2007 at N.D. University of Agriculture and Technology, Faizabad (U.P.), in 2008 at Institute of Science, Mumbai, in 2009 at Marwari College, Ranchi, Jharkhand, in 2010 in S.N. Vanita College, Hyderabad, (A.P.); in 2011 at K.J. Somaya College, Kopargaon (M.S.), in 2012 at T.C. College, Baramati (Pune) M.S. in 2013 at Modi Institute of Management and Technology (MIMT), Kota, Rajasthan, in 2014 at SCS(J) College, Puri, Odisha, in 2015 at Smt. N.M. About the Botany Department
The department of Botany at Dolphin (P.G.) Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences, Manduwala, Dehradun (Uttarakhand) offers 2 years post graduate programme in Botany. The course content includes Mycology and Microbiology, Phycology and Bryology, Pteridology, Gymnosperms and Palaeobotany, Taxonomy and Diversity of Seed plants, Plant development and reproductive biology, Resource utilization, IPR, and Ethnobotany, Cytogenetics and Molecular biology, Plant breeding and biostatistics, Plant physiology and Biochemistry, Ecology and Remote sensing, RDT, Forest Ecology, Plant Health management, Conservation Biology, Biotechnology, Genetic engineering, Applied plant anatomy, Seed pathology, Environment Management with reference to Western Himalaya and Dissertation.
A post graduate degree in the subject makes the person eligible to opt for a career in teaching or to take up research work in any prominent University. The Dolphin (P.G.) Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences, is located in Manduwala on Dehradun-Chakarata Highway, near Suddhowala, about 15 kms. from the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) and Dehradun Railway station. Dolphin (P.G.) Institute is spread over 7 acres of pure lush green campus on the outskirts of Dehra Dun and surrounded by a thick forest. The Institute is affiliated to H.N.B. Garhwal (A Central University) Srinagar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand and is accredited by UGC – NAAC.
It is also approved and recognized by the State Govt. of Uttarakhand.
